To troubleshoot issues loading or updating an app or game from Microsoft Store on Windows 11, follow these steps in order:
- Check Microsoft account sign-in
Make sure the PC is signed in with the same Microsoft account used to get the app or game. If not, sign out and sign back in with the correct account. - Verify device and app compatibility
Some apps or games only work on specific device types or Windows versions. If a compatibility error appears, check the app’s page in Microsoft Store to confirm it supports Windows 11 and the device type. - Check device limit for apps and games
If the Microsoft account is already used on 10 devices, new installs or pushes can fail.- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices and sign in.
- Select Show details or Manage for devices to remove.
- Under the device name, select More actions > Remove and follow the instructions.
- Update Windows
Ensure Windows has the latest updates, as some apps require a current build.- Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates, then install any available updates.
- Update Microsoft Store itself
- Open Microsoft Store from Start.
- Select See more (⋯) > Downloads and updates > Get updates.
If an update for Microsoft Store is available, it will install automatically.
- Check for the app in the Library
If the app or game seems not to load after an update or install:- In Microsoft Store, go to Library > My library > All owned and look for the app or game.
If the issue is specifically with mobile apps via Amazon Appstore on Windows 11, also verify:
- The PC meets the device requirements for mobile apps and Amazon Appstore.
- The country/region is supported for Amazon Appstore on Windows.
- If an app will not install, restart Windows Subsystem for Android™ from its Settings app and try again.
If the error message still appears after these steps, capture the exact error text and code and use the Feedback/Support options in Microsoft Store or Feedback Hub to report the problem.
