Hi there,
I am an independent advisor, trying to help other users in the Community with my experience in Microsoft products. Please note that I am a user like you and don't work directly for Microsoft.
The MATSHITA UJ‑852S usually can’t write CDs or DVDs on Windows 10 or 11 because it’s an old drive with no modern drivers or firmware updates, and many users report that it simply doesn’t work properly on these systems. Windows 11 guides also explain that older optical drives often fail due to outdated firmware, driver conflicts, or hardware wear, which matches the issues this model has.
You can try reinstalling the drive in Device Manager or testing different discs, but in most cases the drive still won’t work because it’s no longer supported. The simplest and most reliable solution is to replace it with a modern USB DVD writer, which works immediately with Windows 10/11 and avoids all these compatibility problems.
Please understand that I am an independent advisor and only trying to assist in the best possible way. Kindly let me know if the possible solutions provided help and if you need any other assistance, I will be more than happy to help further.
