All 40 box-pack licenses can be registered under a single Microsoft account, but there is a limit to how many one-time-purchase Office products can be associated with one account. When that limit is reached, the error below appears during redemption:
"You have reached the maximum number of Office products that can be associated to your Microsoft account."
For Office 2024 Pro box packs (perpetual, one-time purchases), the recommended approach is:
- Redeem each product key at setup using the same Microsoft account until the maximum association limit for that account is reached.
- Once that limit is hit and the above error appears, create a second Microsoft account and redeem the remaining product keys under that second account.
This means:
- It is possible to consolidate multiple box-pack licenses under a single email ID up to the technical limit for that account.
- For 40 licenses, plan for the possibility that more than one Microsoft account will be required if the limit is exceeded.
- If the customer expects to deploy and manage many copies centrally (and avoid per-box registration limits), consider Microsoft Volume Licensing instead of individual box packs.
For larger or ongoing deployments, volume licensing is the recommended model because it is designed for organizations running Office on multiple devices and avoids the per-account association cap.
