Added new email to MS account but can't get it to verify

When I click on the verify link to verify the gmail email address I added to my MS account as an alias, it just takes me to an account information page but doesn't actually verify the account.

The verification link should mark the alias as verified, but if it only opens the account page and nothing changes, try re‑sending and completing verification from the account settings page directly.

    1. Go to Manage how you sign in to Microsoft: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=529489 (or the “how you sign in” page at https://account.live.com/names/manage if already signed in).
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account that has the Gmail alias.
    3. Under Account aliases / Your info, look for the Gmail address.
    4. If it shows as Unverified, there should be a Verify button next to it.
    5. Select Verify, then Send email to have a fresh verification email sent.
    6. Open the new verification email in Gmail and click the verification link.

If the alias still will not verify after using the in‑portal Verify button and a fresh email, remove and re‑add the alias, then repeat the steps above:

    1. From the same page, select Remove next to the problematic Gmail alias.
    2. Select Add email, add the Gmail address again as an alias, and complete the flow.
    3. Use Verify → Send email again and click the new link.

If prompted to verify identity but the verification email method is not working, choose I don't have any of these and add a phone number to receive a verification code instead.
