    Hi,

It might be a bug with the recent version.

Please feel free to download Edge Insider from https://aka.ms/EdgeInsider and choose the Dev version. Don't worry, the Dev Version installs separately, so it's easy to try out!

Let me know the Dev version works correclty or not.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

It should not restart Windows, however I have seen a few reports similar to your issue.

To better understand the issue, Please see the article below on how to share System logs.

Awesome! Thank you for the update.

Every update of Edge takes 4 weeks to release; however, emergency patches are sent as desired.

Back to original Edge, see if a reinstalling of the same using MSI helps.

    https://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2016/06/reinstall-microsoft-edge-windows-10.html

Go to this page and choose to download it.

Download Microsoft Edge for Business – Microsoft

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download

    Choose Stable

    Choose the latest Build.

Select the Appropriate Platform and click download.

Next, install the MSI package and see if the issue is resolved.

Try the following targeted steps, building on what has already been done:

    1. Fully update Edge (in case a hotfix is available)
      • Open Edge.
      • Select Settings and more (⋯) > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
      • Wait for it to check and install any updates, then restart Edge.
This ensures the freezing is not due to a known issue already fixed in a newer build.
    2. Free up system resources while testing
Even with RAM under 50%, another app or background process can cause hangs.
      • Close all other apps and background-heavy programs.
      • In Edge, keep only 1 tab open and test.
      • If using Clipchamp or other media-heavy sites, keep that tab in the foreground and close all other tabs.
    3. Clear cache again and restart Edge via internal restart URL
Since freezes persist after a normal cache clear, repeat using the documented pattern:
      • Clear Cached images and files with time range set to All time (other data can stay).
      • In the address bar, type edge://restart and press Enter to fully restart the browser process.
    4. Check for malware or security software interference
      • Run a full scan using Windows Security (see the "Run a scan manually" section in Stay protected with Windows Security).
      • If third‑party security software (e.g., Norton, McAfee) is installed, open it and apply any pending updates. Out‑of‑date security software can interfere with browser processes and cause freezing.
    5. Restart the computer and test Edge first
      • Restart Windows.
      • After sign‑in, open only Edge first and test before starting any other apps.
This helps confirm whether another startup program is contributing to the freezes.
    6. Repair Edge again, ensuring all instances are closed
If the previous repair was done while another user session or background Edge process was open, repeat it carefully:
      • Close all Edge windows for all user accounts.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Yes > Repair.
      • Stay connected to the internet while the repair runs, then test again.
    7. If still freezing, reinstall Edge on top of the existing install
      • Download the latest Edge installer from the official Microsoft Edge download page.
      • Run the installer to reinstall Edge over the current installation.
This can fix issues that a standard repair does not address, without removing user data.

If the problem continues after all of the above, collect details such as whether freezes occur on all sites or only specific ones, and whether they happen in a different Windows user profile. That information will be useful if escalation to Microsoft Support is needed.
