Use Migration Manager’s documented connection flow to unblock the “Authenticate Google Workspace” step and ensure all prerequisites are met.
- Verify admin roles and access
- In Microsoft 365, sign in with one of these roles on the target tenant:
- Global admin
- SharePoint/OneDrive admin
- User assigned the Microsoft 365 Migration Administrator role.
- In Google Workspace, sign in with a supported admin account when installing and authorizing the app:
- Super admin, Groups admin, User management admin, or Help desk admin.
- Re‑run the connection flow from Migration Manager
- Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center → Setup → Migration and imports and choose Google Drive or Google Workspace to open the migration project.
- In the SharePoint Admin Center, under Migration → Google Workspace, select Get started (or open the existing project) and then Connect to Google Workspace.
- On Install the migration app, select Install and authorize and complete the Google Workspace Marketplace flow as an admin (Domain/Admin install, accept terms, Allow, Finish).
- Return to the Migration page and select Next.
- Select Sign in to Google Workspace to generate and use the authentication link.
- Respect the 10‑minute security window
- The connection session has a 10‑minute timeout. If there is more than 10 minutes of inactivity between opening the connection step and completing sign‑in/authorization in Google, the session expires and the link may fail to generate or work.
- If this happens, close the flow and start Connect to Google Workspace again, then complete all steps promptly.
- Confirm the Microsoft 365 Migration app is correctly installed in Google
- In the Google Admin Console, verify that the Microsoft 365 migration app appears as a domain‑installed app and is not blocked.
- If in doubt, remove it and repeat the Install and authorize flow from Migration Manager so the app is reinstalled and authorized for the whole domain.
- After successful connection
- For standard Migration Manager, once the Google Workspace connection is established, the wizard automatically moves to Configure project settings. If configuration isn’t needed, choose Skip and finish, then proceed to Step 2: Scan and assess.
If the link still cannot be generated after confirming roles, reinstalling the app, and completing the flow within 10 minutes, repeat the connection process from a different browser or network and ensure no pop‑up blockers or script blockers interfere with the Google sign‑in window.
