    Hello @NoahTorres,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Based on your description, the issue occurs because your Microsoft account is protected by Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Since your account is managed by your school, Microsoft cannot directly reset or revoke your multi-factor authentication settings. This action must be performed by your school’s IT administrator.

Please reach out to your IT admin and request that they revoke and require re-registration of your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings. They can do this by following these steps:

    • Signing in to the Microsoft Entra Admin Center
    • Navigating to Users > Your Account > Authentication methods
    • Selecting Require re-register MFA

Once this is completed, you will be prompted to set up MFA again during your next login, allowing you to configure Microsoft Authenticator on your new device

If you are unsure who your IT administrator is, you can refer to this official Microsoft guide for assistance: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

Please contact your school’s IT team as soon as possible, as they are the only ones who can perform this reset. Once they have completed the process, try signing in again and let us know if you need further guidance.

    Best regards,

To change the phone number used for two-step verification when the old number is no longer accessible, use the security info recovery flow for a work or school account.

Because the password is known but the old phone number is not accessible, follow these steps:

    1. Begin signing in to the work or school account for @southplainscollege.edu.
    2. When prompted to verify identity (for example, by sending a code to the old phone), select I don't have any of these.
    3. Follow the prompts to replace the security info and add the current phone number as a new verification method.
    4. After completing the replacement, there is a 30‑day period before the new security info is fully active for sign-in.
      • During these 30 days, if the old security info becomes available again, it can still be used to sign in, but doing so cancels the update.

If access to all security info is lost and the "I don't have any of these" flow cannot be completed, contact the organization’s IT/helpdesk so an administrator can assist with resetting MFA methods for the account.

Do not remove or change all security info at the same time in the future, as this can cause the account to be restricted for 30 days.
