Because messages appear briefly and are visible in incognito, the mailbox itself is fine; the issue is almost certainly a client‑side view, filter, rule, or add‑on problem in the normal browser session.
Try these steps in Outlook on the web (not incognito):
- Clear any filters on the Inbox view
- At the top of the message list, select Filter.
- Change it to All (and also choose All for time range if shown).
- This ensures messages aren’t hidden by a filter such as “Unread” or a date filter.
- Check Junk, Archive, and other folders
- Open Junk Email and Archive to confirm messages weren’t moved there.
- If messages are there, move one back to Inbox and see if it appears after clearing filters.
- Check rules and sweep rules
- Go to Outlook.com Rules settings and review all Inbox and Sweep rules.
- Disable or delete any rule that moves or deletes new messages from Inbox.
- Check for browser add‑ons (especially in Firefox)
- Certain add‑ons can prevent the inbox from loading correctly.
- Temporarily disable all add‑ons, then reload Outlook on the web and test.
- Review Junk handling and sign‑in activity
- Make sure messages aren’t being incorrectly classified as junk by another mail app; if so, mark them Not junk so they return to Inbox.
- If there is any suspicion of account compromise, review the Recent activity page and secure the account as needed.
If messages display correctly after filters are cleared and problematic rules/add‑ons are removed, the Inbox view will remain populated in normal (non‑incognito) browsing sessions.
