Where's my Touchscreen?

I just received my OmniBook, and I can't find the touchscreen in the device manager. Does that mean it doesn't have a touchscreen, or am I looking in the wrong place?

Hi, I'm Bernard, a fellow Windows user. I'm happy to help!

May I know the exact make and model of your device so I can check if it's touchscreen-capable?

    To check:

Press the Windows key + R, then type in:

    msinfo32

    Then hit Ok

Please let me know the System Manufacturer and Model.

The OmniBook X, OmniBook Ultra, and OmniBook Flip (2-in-1) models have touchscreen capability. However, OmniBook 3, 5, and 7 models are not typically touchscreen.

In Windows, a touchscreen normally appears in Device Manager under Human Interface Devices as HID-compliant touch screen (and sometimes also as Intel(R) Precise Touch Device on some devices like Surface).

    To check correctly:

    1. Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
    3. Look for HID-compliant touch screen.
      • If present, right-click it to Enable device if it is disabled.
      • If there are multiple entries, they may all relate to touch and can each be enabled or disabled.

If HID-compliant touch screen (or any touch-related device) does not appear at all, either:

    • The OmniBook model does not include a touchscreen, or
    • The touchscreen firmware/driver is missing or not detected.

On Surface devices, missing touch entries in Device Manager are handled by manually installing the correct drivers and firmware. For an OmniBook, the equivalent step is to obtain and install the official touch/firmware package from the device manufacturer’s support site. If, after installing the correct drivers, there is still no HID-compliant touch screen entry, the device is likely non-touch.

To completely disable touch on a Windows device that does have it, the supported method is:

    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
    3. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen and select Disable device.

Re‑enable it by choosing Enable device from the same menu.
