    Hi @Gregory Dortch,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how disruptive it can be to find that your Microsoft 365 service was cancelled even though your account is fully paid.

To help you understand what happened and restore your service, please follow the steps below (admin access required):

Step 1: Confirm what Microsoft shows for your subscription

    1/ Check the subscription status

    • Go to admin.microsoft.com > Billing > Your products.
    • Locate the affected subscription (Business Standard, E3/E5, Exchange Online, etc.).
    • Note the status: Active, Suspended, or Canceled, and check for any banners such as Past due, Payment failed, Chargeback, or Fraud hold.

2/ Confirm the payment was successfully processed

    • Go to Billing > Bills & payments > Invoices and verify the invoice shows Paid, not Issued or Pending.
    • Review the Payment methods to ensure the card did not expire, get declined, or get blocked by your bank.

    3/ Identify your purchase channel

    • Direct from Microsoft: You manage payment and renewal in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    • CSP (partner/reseller): The partner manages billing. If they did not receive payment or had a billing issue, the subscription can be suspended or cancelled by the partner.

Step 2: If the subscription shows Suspended

    Possible causes:

    • Renewal charge failed (expired card, insufficient funds, bank block)
    • A chargeback was filed
    • Fraud/risk hold
    • Past‑due balance on a different billing profile

    To fix it:

    • Update your payment method: Billing > Payment methods > Add a new card > Set as default.
    • Retry the payment under Bills & payments by manually paying the past‑due invoice.
    • If you see a fraud/chargeback alert, contact your bank to clear the dispute, then contact Microsoft Support.
    • If purchased via CSP, please contact your partner to re‑enable the subscription - they may need to re‑provision it.

Once payment or the hold is cleared, the subscription usually returns to Active within minutes to a few hours.

Step 3: If the subscription shows Canceled

Option A: Reactivate (if still within the restoration window)

    1. Open Billing > Your products
    2. Select the subscription
    3. Under Subscription status, choose Reactivate subscription
    4. Select or add a payment method
    5. Click Reactivate.

Reference: Reactivate your subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Note: For CSP subscriptions, only the partner can re‑enable or re‑provision a canceled subscription.

If Reactivate does not appear as an option or you are unable to perform these actions, please move on to the next steps for contacting support:

Please open a support ticket so the Microsoft Billing team can review your subscription directly.

An IT admin can create a ticket by signing in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center by following guidance: Get support – Microsoft 365 admin.

Or contact Microsoft directly using: Customer service phone numbers – Microsoft Support.

If a Microsoft subscription was cancelled even though payment is up to date, the most common causes in the provided information are:

    1. Cancellation was processed earlier
      • A subscription can be cancelled at any time, and access then ends at the end of the current service period or billing period, even if it was fully paid at that time. This matches the behavior described where access ends when the current paid period finishes after cancellation.
    2. Cancellation done on a different account
      • If multiple Microsoft accounts exist, the subscription might have been managed or cancelled under a different account than the one being checked. The guidance for Clipchamp and other subscriptions stresses signing in with the exact account that holds the paid subscription; otherwise, the subscription status can appear inconsistent.
    3. Billing timing vs. service period
      • If a cancellation was submitted close to a billing date, charges can still appear for the current period, but the subscription will still end at the end of that period. The subscription can look “paid” from the bank side while already scheduled to end.

Recommended steps based on the context:

    1. Verify the subscription status
      • Go to the Microsoft account Services & Subscriptions page and confirm:
        • Which subscription was cancelled.
        • The “end date” of the subscription.
        • Whether recurring billing is off.
    2. Confirm the correct account
      • If there are multiple Microsoft accounts (for example, personal, work, or multiple personal addresses), sign out and sign back in with each possible account to verify which one owns the subscription. The Clipchamp article highlights that using the wrong account can hide the actual subscription and its status.
    3. Check for prior cancellation or trial expiry
      • If the subscription started as a trial or promotional offer and was not renewed, it can end automatically at the end of the trial or fixed term, even if it was previously active and paid.
    4. If the cancellation appears incorrect
      • If the subscription shows as cancelled or ended in the Services & Subscriptions page but should still be active based on payments, contact Microsoft billing support so they can review the account and charges directly. Community and documentation cannot access or correct billing records.
