Initial steps or instructions to begin using Microsoft Q&A
Reputation points on Microsoft Q&A only increase for specific tracked activities. If those activities are not happening on content associated with the current profile, the visible points will not change.
On Microsoft Q&A, reputation points are earned when:
- Another user upvotes a question, answer, or comment: +5 points
- An answer is accepted on a question that was posted: +20 points
- Another user accepts an answer that was posted: +75 points
- Content is deleted: −10 points (points previously earned from that content are also removed)
If there has been little or no recent activity that matches these actions, or if posts are not receiving upvotes/accepted answers, the reputation total will remain unchanged even over a long period.
Also note:
- Not all actions on Microsoft Q&A grant points.
- Reputation points can be lost if content that previously earned points is deleted.
- It is possible for the total to stay flat or even decrease over time depending on these events.
To increase points again, continue participating on Q&A with new questions and answers and ensure that the correct Microsoft Learn profile is being used when posting so that new activity can be tracked and rewarded.
