    Hi,

Thank you for the details. To better understand the issue and guide you properly, could you please clarify the following:

    • Do you have a Microsoft subscription? If yes, what type of subscription are you using (e.g., Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, etc.)?
    • Is the issue happening only with Outlook, or does it affect other Microsoft products as well?
    • Are you trying to sign in using the Outlook app? If yes, are you using the new Outlook or the classic version, or are you accessing it via a web browser?
    • Is your second laptop running Windows or macOS?
    • What is the exact error message you receive after the login attempt fails? in the meantime, try using a different internet connection, then open an InPrivate window(Ctrl + Shift + N) in your browser and try logging in to your account using the link below: https://account.microsoft.com/ Can you log in there?

Try the following steps on the second laptop and on the phone with Microsoft Authenticator:

    1. On the phone, open Microsoft Authenticator and make sure the app is unlocked before trying to sign in on the laptop. If the app is locked, the prompt may not complete and the sign-in will fail after a delay.
    2. Check that notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator on the phone and not set to silent. If notifications are blocked or silent, the approval prompt may not appear and the sign-in will time out. Also check SMS/text messages in case a verification code was sent silently.
    3. Confirm that Microsoft Authenticator is up to date from the app store. An outdated version can cause sign-in failures after entering the password.
    4. Make sure the phone has a stable internet connection (Wi‑Fi or mobile data) while approving the sign-in. If needed, switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data and try again.
    5. Verify the date and time on the phone are correct and set to automatic. Incorrect device time can cause authentication to fail after a few minutes.
    6. If sign-in still fails, use the password reset flow to ensure the new password is fully recognized across services, then try signing in again: Reset your password.

If none of these steps work, sign in to the same Microsoft account on a browser and review security settings and sign-in methods, then try adding the account again to Microsoft Authenticator following the documented steps for using Authenticator to sign in.
