    Open the Settings app.

Go to Apps - Default Apps.

Scroll down to find Google Chrome.

Select Chrome, then set it as your default browser, then scroll down and ensure Chrome is set as the default for app file types and protocols.

That process should set Chrome as the default in all situations.

Microsoft Edge cannot be uninstalled from Windows because it is the default browser and a core component of the operating system that supports web-based applications. However, Windows allows installing other browsers and using them instead of Edge for most activities.

To rely on Google Chrome as much as possible:

    1. Install Google Chrome (if not already installed).
    2. Set Chrome as the default browser in Windows so that most web links open in Chrome instead of Edge.
    3. In apps that support choosing a browser (for example, Outlook and Teams), change their settings so links open in the system default browser instead of forcing Microsoft Edge. The context notes that Outlook and Teams can be configured so that web links do not open in Edge; this is done in each app’s settings.
    4. In Microsoft Edge itself, avoid using it except when Windows or specific apps require it. Edge will still exist on the system and be updated via Windows Update, but Chrome can be used for everyday browsing.

If Microsoft Edge starts automatically when signing in and Chrome is preferred:

    1. Open Start > Settings.
    2. Go to Accounts > Sign-in options.
    3. Turn off Automatically save my restartable apps and restart them when I sign in so Edge does not relaunch automatically.

Note that some Windows features and web-based components may still use Edge internally, and this behavior cannot be fully disabled.
