Identity validation for Artifact Signing typically takes 1–7 business days, possibly longer if more documentation is required. When the status remains In Progress for an extended period and the portal shows no Action Required, direct Microsoft support engagement is required; community responders cannot access or expedite specific validation IDs.
The supported next steps are:
- Verify that no additional action is requested
- In the Azure portal, open the Artifact Signing account.
- Go to Identity validations and confirm the status is still In Progress and not Action Required or Failed.
- Ensure that the primary email inbox (and junk folder) has been checked for any request for more documents.
- Do not create duplicate identity validation requests
- Documentation explicitly notes that creating additional identity validation requests for the same entity that is already in progress does not help and cannot be expedited.
- Open an Azure Support request
- Use Azure Support to have Microsoft review the stuck identity validation. Provide:
- The Artifact Signing account details (subscription, resource group, account name).
- The identity validation ID.
- The date of submission and confirmation that all requested documents and email verification are completed.
- Azure Support can check the backend validation state and either move the process forward or advise if additional documentation is needed.
- Optional: Ask in Microsoft Q&A with the correct tag
- As an additional channel, post on Microsoft Q&A using the artifact-signing tag, including the approximate submission date and confirmation that all documents and email verification are complete. This can help route the case, but it does not replace an Azure Support ticket.
If the identity validation ultimately fails and cannot be completed even after additional documentation, the guidance is to delete the Artifact Signing account to avoid being billed for unused resources.
