To try to get a refund for a Microsoft 365/Office subscription that was purchased by mistake, follow these steps:

1. Cancel the subscription first
   • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used to buy the subscription.
   • Find the Microsoft 365/Office subscription under Services & subscriptions and select Manage.
   • On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, then choose Cancel).
   • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete cancellation.
2. Check refund eligibility
   • For Microsoft subscriptions, cancellation does not always guarantee a refund. Refund eligibility is determined after cancellation.
   • The official guidance states: “To check refund eligibility on a subscription you purchased from Microsoft, you will need to cancel it first. Not all cancellations will result in a refund.”
   • If your country/region supports prorated refunds, you may automatically receive a partial refund depending on when you cancel. See the note about countries with prorated refunds in the article.
3. If purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play
   • If the subscription was bought via the Apple App Store or Google Play on macOS/iOS/Android, Microsoft cannot process the refund.

4. If refund does not appear automatically
