I need to move my contacts in Outlook 2021 to my new email address

Question

I recently added my gmail account to my Outlook account. My contacts are all under my original email account (att.net) which I will eventually delete. How do I move my contacts to my gmail account within Outlook?

You can move your contacts off the AT&T (att.net) account by exporting them from Outlook 2021 and importing them into your Google (Gmail) contacts, so they stay with Gmail even after you remove the AT&T account. See: Transfer contacts between Outlook and Google Gmail - Microsoft Support 

To make it clear, do you want the contacts to live in your Gmail account (Google Contacts), or do you only need them to remain available inside Outlook after you remove the AT&T account?  

Meanwhile, please try these steps:  

• Export contacts from Outlook 2021 (ATT contacts) to CSV 
  • In Outlook, go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export > Export to a file > Comma Separated Values (.csv) > select the Contacts folder under your AT&T account > choose a save location > Finish. See: Import or export contacts in Outlook using a .csv file - Microsoft Support 
• Import that CSV into Google Contacts (so they belong to Gmail) 
  • Sign in to Google Contacts, choose Export/Import flow and import the CSV you just created (this is the supported way to use Outlook contacts in Gmail).  
• Optional safety backup before deleting AT&T 
  • If you want an extra backup, export Outlook data to a PST file (contacts can be included) before removing the account.

Use export/import inside Outlook to move the contacts from the ATT account’s Contacts folder into the Gmail account’s Contacts folder.

1. In Outlook 2021, export the ATT contacts to a CSV file
   1. Select the ATT account’s Contacts folder.
   2. Select File > Options.
   3. Select Advanced.
   4. Under Export, select Export.
   5. In the Import and Export Wizard, select Export to a file > Next.
   6. Select Comma Separated Value (DOS) > Next.
   7. Make sure the ATT Contacts folder is selected > Next.
   8. Choose a location and file name for the CSV file and select Next.
   9. (Optional) Select Map Custom Fields if any fields need adjusting, then Finish.
2. Import that CSV into the Gmail account’s Contacts folder in Outlook
   1. In Outlook, select File > Open & Export (or Open) > Import/Export (or Import).
   2. Select Import from another program or file > Next.
   3. Select Comma Separated Values (DOS) > Next.
   4. Browse to the CSV file exported in step 1 and select it.
   5. Choose how to handle duplicates:
      • Replace duplicates with items imported, or
      • Allow duplicates to be created, or
      • Do not import duplicate items.
   6. Select Next.
   7. In the folder list, select the Contacts folder under the Gmail account (not the ATT account) > Next.
   8. (Optional) Select Map Custom Fields to adjust how fields are imported.
   9. Select Finish.

After this, the contacts will reside in the Gmail account’s Contacts folder in Outlook, and the ATT account can be removed later without losing them.
