Question

Why am I paying for Microsoft Basic and Microsoft Personal? I don't belive that I need both.

Can you please let me know if that is correct, and if it is, how do I cancel the Basic subscription.

Hi,

Are you sure you are not paying for "Microsoft 365 Business basic"? You cannot have 365 Basic and Personal on the same account, unless you have two different Microsoft accounts.

Microsoft 365 Basic and Microsoft 365 Personal are separate subscriptions, so charges for both mean there are two active subscriptions on one or more Microsoft accounts.

To review and cancel the Basic subscription:

1. Go to the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account used to purchase the subscriptions (this is important to see the correct products).
3. Under Services & subscriptions, locate both Microsoft 365 Basic and Microsoft 365 Personal to confirm which ones are active.
4. Next to Microsoft 365 Basic, select Manage.
   • If you see Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not be charged again.
5. On the Manage page, select Cancel or Cancel subscription (it may appear as Upgrade or Cancel), then follow the prompts to complete cancellation.

Notes and impacts:

• Cancellations must be more than 2 days before the billing date; otherwise, another charge may still appear.
• To check refund eligibility for a Microsoft 365 Basic subscription purchased from Microsoft, it must be cancelled first. After cancellation, refund options (if any) will be shown according to the Microsoft Store Terms of Sale.
• When Microsoft 365 Basic is cancelled, the storage allowance reverts to 5 GB of cloud storage (shared by OneDrive and Outlook.com attachments) and 15 GB of Outlook.com storage. If storage used is above the free allowance:
  • New files cannot be uploaded, edited, or synced to OneDrive.
  • Email cannot be sent or received in Outlook.com.
  • After a period (up to 12 months, depending on policy), OneDrive and its files may be deleted.

If any subscription was purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store, cancellation and refund must be requested through their support instead of the Microsoft account portal.
