Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.
What is asking for your address, the virus protection software? First, if you are using Windows, you don't need protection beyond Defender that comes preinstalled and enabled by default. Skip the third-party AV. Second, if you are using a web browser with Outlook online, keep your browser up to date and disable things like third-party cookies and don't visit random web sites. Don't download and install software from sites you aren't 100% familiar with and trust. Don't click on links in emails. An address ending in @wondervalleyfenceco.com is not a hotmail address. You can use non-Microsoft addresses for the usernames for Microsoft accounts, but you can't receive email in a Microsoft mailbox when sent to a non-Microsoft address unless you have a business account (not Outlook.com/Hotmail) or you've taken steps to forward the messages sent to the non-Microsoft address to a Microsoft address.
If you could describe your "difficulties" in complete detail, someone may be able to make suggestions to you to mitigate them.
