All of a sudden, Onenotee web clipper has stopped working. It says I need to enable 3rd party cookies. They are enabled. I've tried both Edge and Chrome to no avail. Ideas? Or has there been a recent update? I'm on Windows 10.

    Hi,

It seems there’s currently an issue with the extension. I’m currently experiencing the same problem, along with others in this thread. This suggests it may be a server-side issue. If that’s the case, it’s something only Microsoft can resolve and there's nothing else we can do on our end aside from submitting a report by clicking the Feedback link on the web clipper extension. In the meantime, you may try an alternative web clipping tool from this list in Edge add ons page at least until the issue is fixed.

Try the following steps, focusing on cookie settings and cached data, since the error explicitly mentions third‑party cookies and similar issues are often cookie-related.

    1. Verify third‑party cookies in Edge
      1. Open Edge.
      2. Select Settings and more (⋯) > Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data.
      3. Make sure Block third-party cookies is Off.
    2. Verify third‑party cookies in Chrome
      1. Open Chrome.
      2. Go to Customize and control Google Chrome (⋮) > Settings > Privacy and security.
      3. Ensure Allow third-party cookies is selected.
    3. Clear cookies and cache for the affected sites Even if cookies are enabled, corrupted or stale cookies can break integrations like the OneNote Web Clipper.
      • In Chrome or Edge, open Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data.
      • Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
      • Clear data (start with a shorter time range like "Last 7 days").
      • Close and reopen the browser and try the Web Clipper again.
    4. Check for per‑site cookie blocks
      • In Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies.
        • Ensure the OneNote/OneDrive/Office domains are not listed under Not allowed to save and read cookies.
      • In Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data.
        • Under Sites that can always use cookies, add Microsoft domains if needed (for example, microsoft.com, microsoftonline.com) and allow all cookies on those sites.
    5. Try in a clean profile or InPrivate/Incognito
      • Create a new browser profile with default settings and test the Web Clipper.
      • Or test in InPrivate/Incognito with third‑party cookies explicitly allowed for Microsoft/OneNote sites.
    6. Reinstall or re-enable the Web Clipper extension
      • Remove the OneNote Web Clipper extension from Edge/Chrome.
      • Close the browser, reopen it, and reinstall the extension from the store.

If the issue persists after confirming cookies and clearing data, it is likely a service-side or recent update issue; in that case, continue using a different browser profile or device as a temporary workaround and monitor for an extension or browser update.
