Hello, are you using the new Outlook or the classic version?

Turn off “New Outlook” and switch to classic Outlook. iCloud only syncs with the classic app. Close Outlook, reopen it, then sign in again in iCloud for Windows and enable Mail, Contacts, and Calendars for Outlook.

Outlook and iCloud issues are usually fixable without changing products or subscriptions.

To fix the “Outlook isn’t configured to have a default profile”/iCloud sync issue, follow these steps in order:

    1. Reset Windows default apps to Outlook
      1. Select Start > Settings > Apps.
      2. Select Default apps.
      3. Select Set defaults by app.
      4. Find Outlook in the list, select it, then choose Manage.
      5. For each mail/calendar/contact-related file type and protocol shown, make sure Outlook is selected. If any are not set to Outlook, change them to Outlook.
    2. Repair Office/Outlook
      1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
      2. Select Microsoft 365/Office, then choose Change.
      3. If it is a Click-to-Run installation, choose Online Repair > Repair so all components are fully fixed. (Quick Repair only replaces corrupted files.)
      4. If it is an MSI-based installation, choose Repair and then Continue.
      5. Follow the on-screen steps and restart the computer when finished.
      6. After restart, open iCloud for Windows and test sync again.
    3. Remove older/duplicate Office versions Older Office versions can interfere with Outlook and iCloud integration.
      1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
      2. Look for any additional/older Office versions.
      3. Uninstall any older Office versions.
      4. Restart the computer.
    4. If Office was installed from Microsoft Store iCloud may not work correctly with a Microsoft Store–installed Office.
      1. Select Start > Settings > Apps.
      2. Under Apps & Features, select Microsoft Office Desktop Apps (or any Office entry) and choose Uninstall.
      3. Restart the computer.
      4. Reinstall Office using the steps in the article “Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac” linked from the support page.
    5. Make sure iCloud for Windows supports the Outlook version If using Outlook 2016 with iCloud, install iCloud for Windows v5.1 or later, which adds support for Office 2016 and fixes known issues. Download it from Apple using the link in the iCloud support article, then sign in and re-enable Mail, Contacts, Calendars with Outlook.
