Is there a particular MediaTek Bluetooth driver for Windows 11?

I've been going nuts with this driver. It has the Code 31. Long ago I asked about it, and someone offered to find the OEM driver because I was told it was a dual driver. Included BT and Wi-Fi I think it was. I found what they needed from my system but never responded.

I went to the Windows Catalog and found the latest driver, but when I tried to Update Driver from Device Manager, it said I had the latest. Ok, then Windows Code 31 says it cannot load it for the device. It seems vague what it is referencing.

The Realtek stuff works fine although I had seen that with issues before.

I tried disabling the MediaTek driver/device in Device Manager, the re-Enabling it. Also tried Uninstalling it from Device Manager and then allowing Windows to install it. However, when I did that with my open question here last year, that person said not to let Windows install it and get that OEM "dual" driver.

I have an ASUS TUF15 gaming laptop, it's older: July 2022.

Have a new Logitech KB/MSE combo working off BT and work fine. I will admit something has started impacting the laptop local KB, it won't type much coming up in Bios. Related?

Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

In this case, the driver might be an incorrect version and causing error code 31. Remember that a hardware failure is also possible.

Laptop drivers can be modified by the manufacturer, requiring the use of versions provided by the laptop manufacturer instead of the chip manufacturer.

To check, access msinfo32.exe in the search bar, take a screenshot, and post it here.

    Thanks

Windows reports Code 31 when it cannot load the driver for a device, often because the installed driver is incompatible or corrupted. For Bluetooth on Windows 11, the recommended approach is not to look for a generic “MediaTek Bluetooth driver for Windows 11,” but to install the Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi combo (dual) driver package provided specifically by the laptop manufacturer (ASUS) for that exact model.

    For this scenario:

    1. Do not rely on Device Manager’s “Search automatically for drivers” if it keeps saying the best driver is already installed. That only checks Windows Update and the local driver store, which may not contain the correct OEM combo driver.
    2. Go directly to the ASUS support site for the exact TUF15 model (match full model number and revision) and download the latest Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi driver package listed for Windows 11. This is typically the OEM-customized “dual” driver that supports both the MediaTek Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi functions on that card.
    3. If the ASUS package is an executable (.exe), run it to install the drivers, then restart Windows.
    4. If the ASUS package contains .inf/.sys files instead of an installer:
      • Open Device Manager (Start → type Device Manager).
      • Expand Bluetooth, right‑click the MediaTek Bluetooth adapter, and select Update driver.
      • Choose Browse my computer for drivers and point it to the folder where the ASUS driver files were extracted.
      • Complete the wizard and restart the PC.
    5. If Windows still shows Code 31 after installing the ASUS driver, uninstall the Bluetooth device in Device Manager (check “Delete the driver software for this device” if available), restart, and then reinstall using the ASUS package again.

Because Code 31 is often caused by an outdated or incompatible driver, using the OEM’s latest combo driver for the specific laptop model is the supported way to resolve it, rather than a generic Windows Catalog package.

If Bluetooth continues to disappear or show errors after installing the OEM driver, also ensure Windows is fully updated, since some Bluetooth drivers are delivered via Windows Update.
