To guide you accurately, please confirm which type of account you’re trying to close:
- Personal Microsoft account (usually ends ******@outlook.com / @hotmail.com / @live.com)
- Work/School (Microsoft 365 business) account (provided/managed by an organization)
If it’s a personal account
- You can close it by signing in to the official account-closure page and following the prompts (choose a 30/60-day reopen window, acknowledge the checklist, then select Mark account for closure): How to close your Microsoft account
- Note: You must be able to sign in to close the account.
If it’s a work/school (business) account
- This typically means the account is linked to organizational services, and closing it follows a separate business closure process (often requiring a Global Administrator).
- Please contact your organization’s IT/Admin to cancel/remove related services before closure.
