    Hi Cristian Gonzales,

Based on your description, I understand that you want to reset your PIN but got redirected to password options instead. Since Q&A Assist has already covered the standard PIN reset paths, to better help you in case those suggestions don't work, I need you to reconfirm a few details first:

    • Is this PIN for signing into Windows, or actually you meant the account verification code?
    • Sign you made this account long ago, are you currently still able to sign in with your password?
    • When you select “I forgot my PIN”, does it show an error message? Loopback? Or not appear at all?

In general, if you meant Windows Hello PIN then it's tied to the device. One it's missing, the PIN cannot be viewed or recovered. A possible option would be to clear corrupted local PIN data to start at the same stage. Note: the following is advanced and not recommended by Microsoft. Create restore point and back up your files before starting

    • Open File Explorer > Go to: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
    • Open the NGC folder > take ownership if prompted > Delete all contents inside
    • Restart the PC normally > Sign in with your password > check PIN.

Password verification is mandatory for PIN reset, so what you're facing might be normal process. Even if you don’t want to change the password, Windows might have wanted to just verify your identity first. If you encounter anything you're not sure, please don't hesitate to let me know!

To change or reset the Windows sign‑in PIN (Windows Hello PIN), use one of these methods depending on whether access to the PC is available.

If already signed in to Windows:

    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Go to Accounts > Sign-in options (or use this shortcut: Sign-in options).
    3. Under PIN (Windows Hello) select Change PIN to change it (this requires knowing the current PIN), or select I forgot my PIN.
    4. Follow the on‑screen steps to verify the Microsoft account and create a new PIN.

If not signed in / PIN is required at the lock screen:

    1. On the Windows sign‑in screen, under the PIN box, select I forgot my PIN (if shown).
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account password or other listed method when prompted.
    3. After verification, follow the steps to set a new PIN.
    4. If I forgot my PIN is not shown, select Sign-in options on the sign‑in screen and choose to sign in with the account password instead. After signing in, use the Settings steps above to reset the PIN.

If both PIN and password are forgotten:

    1. At the sign‑in screen, select I forgot my password, or use Sign-in options > Web sign-in and then Forgot my password, or from another device go to Reset password.
    2. After resetting the Microsoft account password and signing in, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > PIN (Windows Hello) and select I forgot my PIN to create a new one.

Note: The I forgot my PIN option on the sign‑in screen works only for Microsoft accounts, not for local accounts. For a local account, sign in with the password first, then change or reset the PIN from Settings.
