Suggestion to Add "Jatiyo" Bangla Keyboard Layout for Bangladeshi Users

Hello,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing as a Bangladeshi user of Windows, and I would like to highlight a very important issue regarding Bangla typing support in Windows.

At present, Windows includes only the Bengali Inscript layout, which is not used in Bangladesh at all. This layout is used exclusively in India by Bengali speakers there. In Bangladesh, neither computer users nor mobile users type Bangla using the Inscript layout, because it does not match our national typing standard.

The official and widely used keyboard layout in Bangladesh is the “Jatiyo” layout. This is the standard Bangla typing system used across Bangladeshi computers, laptops, offices, educational institutions, and professional environments. Millions of Bangladeshi users rely on this layout every day.

Because Windows does not include the Jatiyo layout, Bangladeshi users cannot type comfortably in their own language on Windows devices. Many users are forced to install third‑party tools or unofficial software just to type Bangla properly. This creates a major barrier for Bangladeshi users who want a native, secure, and consistent typing experience on Windows.

For this reason, I kindly request that Microsoft add:

Bangla (Bangladesh) — Jatiyo Keyboard Layout User's image

wikipedia lipighor BCC.gov

This is extremely important for ensuring that Bangladeshi users can type naturally and efficiently in their own language. Adding this layout will make Windows far more accessible, accurate, and user‑friendly for millions of people in Bangladesh.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I sincerely hope you will add the Jatiyo layout to support Bangladeshi users.

Best regards,
Nazmus

    Hi,

Just a heads up that this is a user forum, so it’s mainly a peer-to-peer community and not actively monitored by Microsoft for suggestions or feature requests. If you’d like your idea to be considered, it’s best to submit it through the Feedback Hub app by pressing Windows + F. The more users in your region who upvote your feedback, the higher the chances that Microsoft may take it into account for future Windows updates.

Windows currently provides a predefined set of keyboard layouts, including Bangla/Bengali layouts such as “Devanagari – INSCRIPT” and others listed in the Windows keyboard layouts catalog. However, the Jatiyo layout for Bangla (Bangladesh) is not listed among the available built‑in layouts in the provided catalog.

To have a new layout such as “Bangla (Bangladesh) — Jatiyo” considered for inclusion, the appropriate path is to submit product feedback and a feature request to Microsoft rather than through Q&A alone. Feedback submitted via the official feedback channels is what reaches the product engineering teams; Q&A posts are not monitored for roadmap decisions.

Use the Windows Feedback/Feedback Hub or the Microsoft feedback portal to submit this as a feature request, including:

    1. A clear description of the problem (Bangladeshi users rely on Jatiyo, but Windows only ships Inscript for Bangla typing).
    2. Justification and impact (national standard, wide adoption in Bangladesh, accessibility and usability reasons).
    3. References to official standards or government resources describing the Jatiyo layout.
    4. The layout diagram (like the one provided) and any technical details that can help the engineering team implement and validate it.

This ensures the request is visible to the Windows localization and input team and can be tracked, upvoted by other users, and considered for future versions of Windows.

In the meantime, Bangla users who need Jatiyo can continue using third‑party keyboard tools, but adding the request through the official feedback channels is the supported way to influence the built‑in Windows keyboard layout set.
