Hi,

I renewed my order on 18 March 2026 (#1289747096) but I keep getting messages on Word, Excel etc. to say I am going to lose documents etc. if I don't renew my subscription.

This is the message on the email I received confirming my order had been processed:

We've charged ZAR 1,599.00 to Visa **4730. For a complete breakdown of charges, see your order details.

Please assist.

Thank you

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. Please try to logout and login again on any Microsoft 365 app that has the subscription on it (e.g from Word > click on File > Account > Sign out/Sign in or Update License and see how it goes. If you will still encounter an issue, you may have your account checked and you can reach out to the support team at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ and then click on Microsoft 365 and then click Get Home Support and then type in Account or subscription issue and click the blue button that says Sign in to contact Support and login and proceed from there.

Follow these steps to stop the renewal / expiration warnings after renewing the subscription:

    1. Confirm the subscription is active
      • Close all Office apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
      • Go to the Microsoft account Subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
      • Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used for order #1289747096 and that appears on the renewal email.
      • Under the Microsoft 365 heading, verify that the subscription shows as Active and that the next charge/expiration date is in the future.
    2. Make sure the correct account is used in the Office apps
      • Open Word or Excel.
      • Go to File → Account.
      • Under User Information, check that the signed-in email address matches the Microsoft account that shows the active subscription on the Subscriptions page.
      • If it is different, sign out, then sign in with the correct account.
    3. Refresh the license in the Office apps
      • Still in File → Account, look for an option such as Update license (or similar wording).
      • Select it and sign in again with the account that has the active subscription.
      • Close all Office apps and open them again to see if the warning bar has disappeared.
    4. If the message is “Renew your subscription” or “Subscription expired” after renewal
      • This can appear if the subscription was close to expiring or briefly expired before renewal.
      • After confirming the subscription is active, close all Microsoft 365 apps and reopen them. You may be prompted to sign in again with the subscription account.

If the subscription shows as expired or suspended on the Subscriptions page, follow the renewal steps there and then repeat steps 2–4.
