Whenever I try signing into my account I enter my personal pin and I receive a code from microsoft via email or text message and when I put the code in to verify my account it comes up with error message I have tried doing this over a time period of two weeks. When I try to use my password it says that my pssword is wrong and then I have changed and updated my password and it is still saying its wrong, only sometimes (even when typing the exact same password) it works then this error message pops up again. I can not sign into my microsoft account because for some reason it has seemed to log me out and same with all of the games that I have bought of xbox. Please help me and if this doesn't work then may I have a refund from Minecraft? Thank you please help me as soon as possible as I won't be able to sign in into anything on my phone or my account.

Follow these steps to resolve the sign-in and verification-code problem and regain access to the Microsoft account used for Minecraft and other games:

    1. Use the Sign-in Helper for diagnosis
      • Go to the Microsoft sign-in helper tool: use the Sign-in Helper tool linked under "Recover lost access to your Microsoft account".
      • This tool identifies most sign-in issues (including account blocks and verification problems) and shows available recovery options.
    2. Check why verification codes fail If the problem appears when entering the verification code (email or SMS):
      • Make sure the code is being sent to the correct mailbox or phone:
        • Email codes are only sent to the primary alias or another email added as a way to verify sign in.
        • Check the junk/spam folder for messages from @accountprotection.microsoft.com and mark it as a trusted sender.
      • Avoid repeated requests:
        • Excessive or repetitive code requests to email/phone can cause a temporary block where codes are not sent or accepted.
      • Check phone-related issues:
        • Ensure the phone does not block texts from unknown numbers.
        • Confirm the SMS inbox is not full and the messaging app is working.
        • VOIP numbers cannot be used for verification; a mobile number is required.
      • If in a region with limited SMS functionality or heavy compromised traffic, delivery may be delayed; these issues usually resolve automatically after some time.
    3. Handle “Try another verification method” / account block scenarios If a block is in place (for example due to unusual activity or high volume of requests):
      • Try another verification method already on the account (e.g., alternate email instead of SMS, or vice versa).
      • Try another network (switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or use a different Wi‑Fi network).
      • Wait before retrying:
        • Waiting at least 24 hours without repeated attempts can allow temporary blocks to clear.
        • If still blocked, wait longer (up to about a week) before trying again.
      • Use the sign-in helper again after waiting to see if new options appear.
    4. If the account cannot be accessed at all
      • Follow the guidance under Steps to recover your Microsoft account:
        • If the username is not recognized or you see errors like “We couldn't find an account with that username” or “account doesn't exist”, use the Sign-in Helper tool from that section.
        • If the account has been inactive for more than two years, it may have been deleted and cannot be reopened.
      • If verification codes still do not arrive or work, use the guidance in Help with the Microsoft account recovery form (linked from the recovery steps) and submit as much accurate information as possible.
    5. When still not receiving codes
      • If no verification method is usable, the guidance under Need more help? applies:
        • Another method or waiting until access to the listed phone/email is possible may be required.
        • Support agents cannot send verification codes, password reset links, or change account details for security reasons.
      • For additional technical help (browser issues, sign-in page not rendering, etc.), go to Contact Microsoft Support from the verification-code article and choose Get Help, then Contact Support.
    6. About Minecraft and purchased games
      • Access to Minecraft and other Xbox games is tied to the Microsoft account. Restoring access to that account via the steps above is required to use existing purchases.
      • Refund handling is not covered in the provided material; focus first on recovering the Microsoft account using the official recovery and verification-code troubleshooting steps.
