Hello, after installing January 2026 CU on SharePoint 2019 onPrem farm (8 AP servers, 1 DB), we want to upgrade classic work manager farm (1 AP server and 1 DB – same as for SP farm), but did not know Certificate Generation Key. We tryed reset it, but without success (I have undertood, that it is only for SPWFM). So we decided to uninstall the farm, delete DB and install new SPWFM at the same servers. So we done first 9 steps from upgrade... and than deleted all databes from old farm and also Workflow service application proxy. Than we Install and configure workflow for SharePoint Server. Everything looked fine, wizzard ended OK, all services are running, new WFM client and SSL certificate are installed on every SP farm servers, App managemet and Subscription services are Started, Register-SPWorkflowService -SPSite “https://siteURL” -WorkflowHostUri “Endpoints from get-wffarm” -Force finish withnout error, but in Workflow Service Application Proxy is still “Workflow in not connected”. What have I control?

    Hi @Vojáček Zbyněk DiS. (GFŘ)

First, the January 2026 SP CU explicitly requires a compatible SPWFM Client + WFM farm update (at minimum the Nov 2025 KB5002799), please check that first.

Uninstalling the Workflow Manager farm, deleting the databases, and reinstalling a new SPWFM on the same servers does not always remove old SharePoint trust objects. Please refer to this article: Clean up and Re-register with SPWFM – Random SharePoint Problems Explained… Intermittently

One thing I notice, from this article, Upgrade from Workflow Manager to SharePoint Workflow Manager on a new farm - SharePoint Server | Mi…, it stated that Certificate Generation Key does support both WFM and SPWFM.

You can give it a check.

Please try and keep me updated.
