If the Email on your account is now showing a random .ru Email address, your account has been hacked.

I wish I had better news, but when a Microsoft account is hacked, if the hackers change the associated Email, then that account is usually no longer recoverable, this forum is just a user to user account and no-one here has any account access, try using the process they provide on this link to recover a hacked account, if this process is not successful, sadly, that account cannot be recovered.

If the email and phone number on the Microsoft account were changed by an attacker and the account now shows as not existing or cannot be verified, recovery is only possible through the official self-service recovery tools. If those fail, there is no other supported way to get the account back.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Try standard account recovery
      • Go to the Recover your account page: https://account.live.com/password/reset (also reachable from any Microsoft sign-in page via Forgot my password).
      • Enter the original email, phone, or Skype name that was used on the hacked account.
      • Follow the steps to receive and enter a security code, then set a new password if prompted.
      • If the system says it can’t find the account, double-check:
        • The domain (for example, .com vs .co.uk).
        • Spelling of the name (for example, rachel vs rachael).
      • If still not recognized, and there is another alias or phone number that was ever on the account, try that instead.
    2. Use the Microsoft account recovery form (ACSR) if normal reset fails
      • If the usual reset path does not work because security info was changed, use the account recovery form described in Help with the Microsoft account recovery form.
      • Before filling it out:
        • Ensure access to a separate, working email address where Microsoft can contact about the request. This can be any active email, including a newly created Outlook.com address.
      • On the form, provide as much accurate information as possible (old passwords, details of use, etc.). Microsoft reviews the answers and responds within about 24 hours.
      • If a previous attempt failed, adjust and resubmit with more accurate details, from a familiar device and location.
    3. Understand hard limits when security info is changed
      • If two-step verification was enabled and none of the alternate verification methods are accessible, support cannot override security or send manual reset links. In that case, the account cannot be recovered.
      • If the attacker has fully replaced the security info and the recovery form is repeatedly rejected, there is no other method for Microsoft Support to restore access.
    4. If the account truly cannot be recovered
      • A new Microsoft account (like the one already created) will be the only option going forward.
      • For Minecraft specifically, contact Minecraft Support separately to see if they can help with game entitlements, as suggested in similar hacked-account cases, but Microsoft account access itself still depends on the recovery process above.

    To protect the new account:

    • Keep security info (email, phone, authenticator app) up to date on the Security basics page.
    • Regularly review the Recent activity page for unusual sign-ins and mark anything that wasn’t done by you.
