Azura restricting a desktop

Hi,

I have never signed up for Asure and it is preventing one of my desktops from downloading, saving, and scanning. The error message says I have to give permission as the admin, but I have no idea how to do that or stop the error message. Azure is not something we are interested in signing up for.

Thank you,

Amy

    Hi Amy,

Thanks for posting your question here. The issue you're having is because of Windows security feature, it's not related to signing up for Azure. To fix this, please do this:

Please make sure you are signed in with an Administrator account, as this is required for installing and managing programs. To check, press Windows + I, go to Accounts, then select Your info. Under your name, it should say Administrator. If it shows Standard user, Windows will block downloads and installations by default. If needed, you can change this by going to Accounts → Other users, selecting your account, choosing Change account type, setting it to Administrator, and then restarting the PC.

You may refer to this link: How to fix the error message "Your network administrator has blocked access"

Also, let me know the exact wording of the error message you see. I'm here to help.

    Thanks,

    Jobelle C.

The behavior is most likely caused by Windows security or attachment protection settings on the PC, not by an Azure subscription. To restore the ability to download and save files, check and adjust Windows’ download and attachment settings.

Follow these steps on the affected desktop:

    1. Enable file downloads in Internet Options
      1. Press the Windows key, type inetcpl.cpl, and press Enter to open Internet Properties.
      2. Select the Security tab.
      3. Select the Internet zone (globe icon), then click Custom level.
      4. In Security Settings, scroll down to DownloadsFile download and select Enable.
      5. Scroll further to MiscellaneousLaunching applications and unsafe files and select Prompt (recommended).
      6. Click OK, then OK again to close Internet Properties.
    2. Check if antivirus is blocking downloads
      • If error messages mention “virus scan failed” or “virus detected” when downloading or saving files, the installed antivirus may be blocking them.
      • If the file source is trusted and safe, temporarily disable the antivirus’ real-time or download scanning, download the file, then immediately re-enable antivirus protection.
    3. (Advanced) Check Attachment Manager policy in the registry Only do this if comfortable editing the registry.
      1. Press the Windows key, type regedit.exe, and press Enter to open Registry Editor.
      2. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments
      3. If Attachments does not exist, right-click PoliciesNewKey, name it Attachments.
      4. In Attachments, right-click in the right pane → NewDWORD (32-bit) Value.
      5. Name it ScanWithAntiVirus and press Enter.
      6. (Do not change other values unless instructed by a support professional.)

If the error message explicitly mentions a “network administrator” or “organization” blocking access, the device may be joined to a work or school environment that is enforcing restrictions. In that case, contact the organization’s IT admin to remove the device from management or relax the policy.
