Hello Kathryn Blegen,
"There is a good chance your system is just in a broken state from repeated restores, not physically damaged"
1. Find your files:
Search these folders:
C:\Users\YourName
C:\Users\Public
C:\Windows.old (very important after restores)
Also try:
- Open File Explorer
- Search for a file you know by name
- If files were "moved", they are often just in another user profile.
2. Fix Windows without deleting your data
This is safer than random restore points.
- Do an in-place repair install of Windows 11:
- Download Windows 11 from Microsoft website
- Run setup
- Choose:
Keep personal files and apps - This fixes (Broken system files / Store issues / Performance problems / does NOT wipe your data)
3. Stop using system restore now
About the extra apps (Outlook, OneDrive, etc.)
What you are seeing is normal: Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Outlook. These come preinstalled with Windows or get re-enabled after updates
You can safely: Uninstall them Or just ignore them.
How to complain properly (this matters):
- Go to official Microsoft support
- Ask for escalation
Example: (My system was damaged after multiple guided system restores by support agents / Files were moved and system performance degraded / need escalation and case review)
- Request:
Case investigation / Supervisor callback / Compensation review
Lastly,
This situation is very often fixable without a repair shop!
You can do the same fix yourself with the repair install (Step Number #2) Would help a lot.
Regards,
I hope this helps!
