Repair Now often fails. As the AI-generated reply suggested, try an Online Repair from Windows Settings. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b .

HI! Let me help you with this issue.

What happens when you restart the machine?

    Please try a quick repair.

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: appwiz.cpl, then press Enter

Find Microsoft Office in the list

    Right-click it → Click Change

    Select Quick Repair

    Click Repair

Wait until it finishes, then restart your PC

The built-in “Repair now” prompt often does not fix this error. Use an Online Repair of Office instead, which reinstalls and repairs all components.

Follow these steps on Windows 10/11:

    1. Close all Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
    2. Open Settings (gear icon from Start menu).
    3. Go to AppsInstalled apps (or Apps & features).
    4. Find the Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 entry.
    5. Select it, choose Modify.
    6. Select Online Repair, then choose Repair and let it complete.
      • This may take some time and requires internet access.
    7. When the repair finishes, restart Windows and try opening Word and other Office apps again.

If the problem persists after Online Repair, completely uninstall Office from Settings → Apps → Installed apps, restart the PC (use Restart, not Shut down), then reinstall Office from the Microsoft account where the subscription or license is registered.

For more detail on Online Repair, see Repair an Office application.
