    Hello Michael Boyle,

A good first step is to check whether the trial is actually active on your account. Head to https://account.microsoft.com/services and look for Minecraft Realms — this will confirm if the trial was successfully attached or already consumed.

If it shows active but isn't reflecting in-game, try signing out of Minecraft completely and signing back in with the same Microsoft account. This forces the game to re-sync your entitlements.

A couple of things worth confirming:

    • The free trial is for Bedrock Edition only — it won't appear if you're on Java
    • The trial is one per account — if it was previously used, it can't be re-granted
    • Game Pass does not include a free Realms trial; it's a separate claim

If the trial doesn't show on your services page at all, it's possible it was claimed on a different account. Check every account you might have used.

Let me know if you need anything else,

For Minecraft Realms free trials, the subscription behaves like any other recurring subscription: it must be active on the Microsoft account and platform where it was acquired, and it is only valid once per account.

Key points that affect why the trial may not be working:

    1. Realms is a separate subscription from Minecraft itself
      • Owning Minecraft (or playing via Game Pass) does not automatically give Realms access.
      • Realms and Realms Plus are separate subscriptions and must each be purchased or trialed separately.
    2. Trial is tied to the Microsoft account used at purchase
      • The Realms trial entitlement is attached to the specific Microsoft account that started the trial.
      • If signed in with a different Microsoft/Xbox account in Minecraft than the one that claimed the trial, the Realm will not appear.
    3. Realms is a recurring subscription that must be cancelled explicitly
      • After any promotional or trial period, the subscription continues at the then-current price plus taxes unless cancelled in the Microsoft account.
      • If the trial has already been consumed and expired, it cannot be re‑granted on the same account.
    4. Game Pass does not cover Realms
      • If Minecraft is being played through Game Pass, Realms/Realms Plus is still a separate subscription and must be purchased or trialed independently.
    5. Inactivity and data deletion
      • If a Realms/Realms Plus subscription is inactive for more than 18 months, the Realm data is deleted from the server. This does not affect a brand‑new trial, but it matters if returning after a long time.

    Practical checks:

    1. Confirm sign‑in
      • In Minecraft, confirm that the same Microsoft account that started the trial is signed in.
    2. Check subscription status
      • In the Microsoft account (web or console), check whether a Minecraft Realms or Realms Plus subscription is listed as Active, Expired, or Cancelled.
    3. Verify edition and platform
      • Realms and Realms Plus only work with supported versions of Minecraft (not Java Edition Realms, not Xbox 360). Ensure the correct edition/platform is being used.

If the Realms trial shows as expired or not present on the Microsoft account, a new trial cannot be started on that same account; a paid Realms or Realms Plus subscription would be required to continue.
