Windows 11

Question

Windows 11, My Front page opens briefly then closes. It runs OK on Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10 but not 11?

What can i do to make it work

Thanks for posting your question here. I would like to kindly inform you that Microsoft FrontPage 2002 isn’t compatible with Windows 11, which is why it opens briefly and then closes. Windows 11 removed several legacy components that FrontPage depends on.

You can try running FrontPage by right‑clicking FRONTPG.EXE, opening Properties, setting Compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 3), and enabling Run as administrator, then restarting and testing again. If it still does not work, the reliable options are to run FrontPage inside a virtual machine using Windows XP or Windows 7 (via VirtualBox or VMware), or to switch to a supported alternative such as Microsoft Expression Web 4 or a modern HTML editor. FrontPage 2002 is an older app and can have compatibility issues on Windows 11. Use Windows compatibility features to try to run it:

1. Right-click the FrontPage shortcut or FP.EXE on the disk or install folder and select Properties.
2. Open the Compatibility tab.
3. Turn on Run this program in compatibility mode for and choose Windows 7 (or Windows XP/Windows 8 if that works better).
4. Also enable options like Run this program as an administrator if available.
5. Select Apply, then OK, and start FrontPage again.

If it still closes immediately, try reinstalling it on Windows 11, then repeat the compatibility steps above.

If the app remains incompatible, consider using a newer, supported web authoring tool, because older apps can stop working correctly on new Windows versions due to OS and security changes.
