To resolve the duplicate Game Pass charge and avoid being billed twice going forward, follow these steps:
- Check if there are actually two active subscriptions
- Go to the Services & subscriptions page at https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account used for Game Pass.
- Look for multiple Game Pass entries. If there are two separate Game Pass subscriptions, both will appear here.
- Cancel the extra Game Pass subscription
- For the extra subscription, select Manage.
- Choose Cancel subscription (or Upgrade or Cancel, then cancel).
- Follow the prompts to complete cancellation.
- This will stop future recurring charges for that extra subscription while keeping the other one active.
- Request a refund for the extra charge
- After confirming there were two charges for Game Pass, go to the refund page for Microsoft Store purchases: Get a refund for apps and games purchased from Microsoft Store.
- Sign in and locate the duplicate Game Pass transaction from today.
- Submit a refund request for the extra charge. Digital goods are generally non‑refundable, but a refund may be granted depending on offer terms and applicable law, especially for very recent, unused purchases.
- Verify that only one subscription remains
- Return to Services & subscriptions and confirm that only one Game Pass subscription is active.
- Ensure recurring billing is turned on only for the subscription that should continue.
If the system shows only one Game Pass subscription but the bank statement shows two charges, it may be a duplicate charge for the same order. In that case, contact Microsoft Store Support with the Microsoft account and order number so they can investigate and correct the billing.
