    Hi, I'm John!

After freeing space (or purchasing additional storage), it can take up to 24 to 48 hours for everything to fully update across your account. I’d recommend waiting that time and check again OneDrive after that.

If the update is still pending after 24 hours, you can try unlinking and relinking your OneDrive account, or resetting it. "Unlink and re-link OneDrive" https://support.microsoft.com/office/unlink-and-re-link-onedrive-3c4680bf-cc36-4204-9ca5-e7b24cdd23ea

If you're using Outlook Web, you can try resetting your browser cache and cookies. You can also try another browser, or test in incognito or InPrivate mode.

If you're using Outlook New or Classic for Windows app, you can try to reset the Outlook app from Settings > Apps > Installed app, and sign out and sign in again.

If the issue still persists, please wait another 24 hours for everything to fully update across your account.

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

For Outlook.com, “no storage” or “out of storage” usually means either:

    1. Microsoft cloud storage (OneDrive + Outlook.com attachments + other apps) is full, or
    2. Outlook.com email storage is full, or
    3. There is a known storage display bug.

Use these steps in Outlook.com (web) to diagnose and fix it:

    1. Check Microsoft cloud storage (Unified storage)
      • Go to the Outlook.com web interface and open your storage settings using the storage link provided in the error or by using the storage page referenced in the article: check what is using space in Microsoft storage (OneDrive files, Outlook attachments, etc.).
      • If you see a “Microsoft Unified Storage is full” message, you have exceeded your cloud storage quota.
      • When Microsoft storage is exceeded:
        • Cannot upload, edit, or sync new files to OneDrive (existing files become read-only).
        • Cannot send or receive email in Outlook.com, even if email storage itself is not full.
        • After 6 months, OneDrive and its files may be deleted if still over quota.
    2. Check Outlook.com email storage
      • In Outlook.com on the web, select Settings > Account > Storage to see how much mailbox storage is used.
      • If email storage is exceeded:
        • Cannot send or receive email.
        • Messages sent to the account are returned to the sender and must be resent after storage is freed.
    3. Free up space
      • If Microsoft storage is full:
        • Delete or move large files from OneDrive (especially large photos, videos, or old backups).
        • Delete large email attachments stored in Outlook.com (they count against cloud storage).
        • Use the Manage Outlook.com storage and How to reduce your cloud storage guidance linked in the articles to identify and remove large items.
      • If email storage is full:
        • In Outlook.com web, go to Settings > Account > Storage and use the cleanup tools to permanently delete items (or items older than 3, 6, or 12 months) from large folders like Deleted Items, Junk Email, and Sent Items.
    4. If storage shows 0/0 GB or looks wrong
      • There was a known Outlook.com issue where storage displayed as 0/0 GB and blocked sending/receiving, even after deleting items. This has been marked as FIXED and a correction is being rolled out.
      • If the storage meter still looks obviously wrong after freeing space and signing out/in, wait a bit for the fix to reach the account and keep checking the storage page.
    5. If still unable to send/receive after freeing space
      • Confirm both Microsoft storage and email storage are under their quotas.
      • If storage is under quota and email still does not work, follow the Outlook.com guidance for email sync issues and account problems (for example, temporarily blocked accounts or device sync issues) from the “Can’t send or receive email in Outlook.com” article.

Once both Microsoft storage and Outlook.com email storage are below their limits, sending and receiving email should resume normally.
