    Good day John Peterson!

To install Office Home and Student 2016, please uninstall Office 365 first to avoid version conflicts.

The next steps depend on whether you’re installing Office 2016 for the first time or reinstalling it. If the product key hasn’t been used before, it must be redeemed first. If the key was already redeemed in the past, you can skip redemption and install Office directly by signing in with the associated Microsoft account.

For more details on how redemption works, see: Where to enter your Office product key

After that, follow the steps in this official Microsoft guide to download and install the software: Download and install or reinstall Office 2021, Office 2019, or Office 2016.

    Important notes:

    • Office 2016 is a one‑time purchase (no subscription) and the license allows use on one device only.
    • Support for Office 2016 ended on October 14, 2025. The apps will still work, but they no longer receive security updates.

Hope this could clarify things. Feel free to post back if you need further support!
