Azure App Service is a service used to create and deploy scalable, mission-critical web apps.
Hello @Sihle Ndlovu ,
Apologies for delay
Thank you for the update and for sharing the screenshots.
What you’re seeing is expected behavior for App Service Domains after expiration. Although the portal banner still shows “Your domain’s expired, but you can still renew it”, renewal is only supported up to 90 days before the expiration date. Since the domain expired on 12 March 2026, it has now moved into the registrar‑managed post‑expiration (“Pending”) state.
Because of this:
- The Renew Now button may still appear in the UI, but attempting to use it results in “This feature is unavailable”
- Renewal or re‑purchase is not possible, either from the Azure portal or via the GoDaddy (
secureserver.net) portal - Azure Support cannot manually renew or override this state
During the Pending phase, the domain is not released to the public immediately. Once the registrar completes the expiration lifecycle and releases the domain, it will then become available for purchase again.
At this point, the only supported option is to wait until the domain is released and then re‑purchase it (either again as an App Service Domain in Azure or through an external registrar, if available).
For reference, Microsoft documentation states that manual renewal is only possible before expiration, and
