As Sumit points out, the way, in Word, to get things on multiple pages is to put them in headers or footers. Unfortunately, while in Word format, headers and footers are in a different layer. They require an extra couple of steps to be active.

If you are converting the document to pdf, those hyperlinks will be active in the document layer. You may want to look at my page on simulating the Navigation pane when converting to pdf or printing. https://addbalance.com/articles/Navigation%20Pane%20simulation%20in%20pdf%20or%20printed%20document.htm

That content is located in the header or footer layer does not mean it has to be at the top or bottom of the page. You can use Frames or Textboxes to place it elsewhere.

    Hi,

The best way is is using a header or footer — insert your link there and it appears on every page automatically. Word doesn't truly support floating hyperlinks that persist across pages.

I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Otherwise, please take a moment to rate the answer. Wishing you good luck!

Word for Windows does not support a control or hyperlink that “floats” and stays fixed on screen while scrolling from page to page, like a web page’s sticky header or an ASP.NET AlwaysVisible extender.

In Word, hyperlinks are anchored to specific positions in the document (text, images, headings, page numbers, etc.). They scroll with the content and cannot be pinned to the viewport. The closest available options are:

    • Insert normal hyperlinks within the document (for example, in a header or footer) so they appear on every page, but they will still be at the top or bottom of each page, not floating.
    • Use section headers/footers or text boxes repeated on each page with the same link.

A true floating, always-on-screen link while scrolling is not available in Word’s feature set.
