Follow these steps to troubleshoot Word saying there is no internet even though the connection works for everything else:

    1. Confirm Windows can use the network
      • On the Windows sign-in or lock screen, select Network and verify the device shows as connected (Wi‑Fi or Ethernet).
      • If using Wi‑Fi and the signal is weak, temporarily connect the PC directly to the router/modem with an Ethernet cable.
      • If already on Ethernet, unplug and firmly reinsert the cable until it clicks.
      • Test the internet on another device on the same network to confirm the network itself is working.
    2. Check if the issue is specific to Office services
      • Open a web browser and sign in to the Office website (for example, Outlook on the web or OneDrive on the web).
      • If the browser can reach Microsoft 365 services but Word still says “no internet,” the problem is likely with the Office client rather than the network.
    3. Try updating Office over a stable connection
      • Save work and close all Office apps.
      • Restart the PC.
      • Ensure the device is on a stable (preferably wired) internet connection.
      • Open Word, go to File > Account (or Office Account), then under Product Information choose Update Options > Update Now.
      • If the update runs successfully, test signing in again from Word.
    4. If Word still reports no internet
      • The behavior can be caused by local firewall/antivirus or network environment blocking Office sign-in endpoints even though general browsing works.
      • Temporarily disable any third‑party firewall/antivirus (if present) and test again.
      • If using a corporate or managed network, contact the network administrator to verify that Microsoft 365 sign-in endpoints are not blocked.

If none of the above resolves it, the next step is usually a repair or reinstall of Office while on a reliable wired connection, then signing in again after the reinstall.
