Please note that if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription (either Family or Personal), you can install Office on up to five devices. So, transferring office apps is not needed here.

Simply go to the Microsoft Services & Subscriptions page on your new device, sign in with your Microsoft account, and download the Office setup files.

For a Microsoft 365 subscription, nothing needs to be “transferred” from the old laptop. Install and sign in on the new laptop with the same Microsoft account used for the subscription.

Use one of these approaches based on the type of Office license:

1. If using a Microsoft 365 subscription (Microsoft 365 Personal/Family, etc.)
   1. On the new laptop, go to https://www.office.com and sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the subscription.
   2. Select Apps on the left (if shown).
   3. In the upper-right, select Install apps to download the installer.
   4. Run the downloaded file and complete setup; Office apps will activate when signed in with the subscription account.
2. If using a one-time purchase of Office 2021/2019/2016 (Home & Business, Home & Student, Professional) and moving it to a different device:
   1. Uninstall Office from the old computer (required by the license terms when transferring to another device).
