If you purchased the Windows 11 Pro licence directly from Microsoft, try using this method with the generic Pro product key to upgrade from Home to Pro.

Important - disconnect totally from the Internet

Open the Settings App (Gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to Update and Security - Activation

    Click Change Product key

Enter this generic product key: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

    When prompted, click 'Activate Product'

If the above does not work first time, restart your PC and try again.

Note the generic key will cause the Home edition to upgrade to the Pro edition, then your own legal licence will activate automatically after you restart (not shut down) your PC.

    For the Office licence:

When you first installed and activated Office that licence should have become associated to your Microsoft Account as a digital licence online and it is from there that you can re-install Office without the need for a product key:

For Windows 11 Pro, the product key or digital license depends on how it was originally purchased and installed.

    1. If Windows 11 Pro was preinstalled on the laptop (OEM)
      • The product key is usually embedded in the device firmware (BIOS/UEFI) and not printed separately.
      • After reinstalling the correct edition (Windows 11 Pro) on the same device, activation normally happens automatically using the embedded key or existing digital license.
      • If Windows 11 Home was installed instead, install Windows 11 Pro and then check activation under Settings > System > Activation.
    2. If Windows 11 Pro was bought as a digital license from Microsoft
      • The product key or digital license details are in the confirmation email and in the Microsoft account order history.
      • Sign in to the Microsoft account used for purchase and check Order history for the Windows 11 Pro order; the product key is shown there if one was issued.
    3. If Windows 11 Pro was bought as a boxed product or card from a retailer
      • The product key is on the label or card inside the box that Windows came in.
    4. If Windows 11 Pro was obtained as an upgrade via the Microsoft Store app
      • A digital license (not a separate key) is associated with the Microsoft account used in the Store.
      • Sign in to Windows with that same Microsoft account; Windows 11 Pro should activate automatically once the Pro edition is installed.
    5. If the device was upgraded for free from an earlier Windows version
      • The system uses a digital license instead of a product key. Reinstalling the same edition on the same hardware should reactivate automatically once online.

For Microsoft Office and Protegent Antivirus

    • Their product keys are not stored by Windows. Check:
      • The original purchase confirmation email.
      • The account/portal of the vendor (for example, Microsoft account for Office purchases, or the Protegent account/portal for that antivirus) where downloads and keys are listed.
      • Any physical packaging, card, or COA label that came with the products.

If the keys or digital licenses cannot be found in email, packaging, or the relevant account purchase history, contact the respective vendor’s support (PC manufacturer, retailer, Microsoft Support for Windows/Office, Protegent support for the antivirus) with proof of purchase.
