Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To see exactly which Microsoft subscription is being paid for and what it includes, check the Microsoft account’s services and subscriptions page, then review the sharing options based on the subscription type.
- To identify the subscription
- Go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services (or use the Services and subscriptions link from any Microsoft account page).
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that is associated with the Amex Platinum card being charged.
- On the Services & subscriptions page, look for active subscriptions such as Microsoft 365 Basic, Microsoft 365 Personal, Microsoft 365 Family, or other Microsoft 365/Office products. The page shows the product name, renewal date, and billing status.
- If there are multiple Microsoft accounts using the same card (for example, family members), review the guidance in the “I’ve been charged twice” article to investigate charges and see which account is using the card. That article explains how to review order history and use Payment options → Investigate to find other accounts using the same card.
- Whether it can be shared with another computer and Android phone
Sharing and installation depend on the subscription type:
- Microsoft 365 Basic: According to the context, this subscription does not include the ability to install Office apps on a computer. It mainly provides OneDrive storage and web-based Office apps. It cannot be shared as an installable desktop Office license.
- Microsoft 365 Personal: Can be installed on multiple devices, but is licensed for one person only. The subscriber can install on that person’s own PCs/Macs and mobile devices (including Android), but it is not intended to be shared with another person’s account.
- Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Premium: These subscriptions can be shared with other people. The owner can share the subscription so that each invited person uses it with their own Microsoft account and installs the apps on their own devices. The official guidance for sharing a Family or Premium subscription is provided in the “Share your Microsoft 365 subscription” documentation.
- If it is Personal: Install Office apps on the other computer and Android phone using the same Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
- If it is Family or Premium: Share the subscription with another person’s Microsoft account (for example, a family member) using the sharing steps in the Microsoft 365 sharing documentation, then that person can install on their own devices.
- If it is Basic: Use the web versions of Office apps and the included OneDrive storage; desktop Office apps are not included.
If there is concern about multiple or unknown charges, use the steps in the “I’ve been charged twice” article to review order history and investigate any duplicate or unclear payments.
