Emails arent showing on my iphone outlook app

I logged into the Outlook app on my iPhone using my company email ID, but it consistently shows “nothing left to read.” No past emails are visible, and new emails are not appearing either.

This seems to be a glitch, as I added another email account to the same app and all emails are displaying correctly there. I’ve already tried syncing multiple times, logging out and back in, and changing view settings (like Focused Inbox), but the issue still persists.

Could someone please help me resolve this?

    Dear @Shannon Vianny Vas,

I understand how frustrating it is when your company emails are not showing up in the Outlook app on your iPhone, especially since your other email account works perfectly fine on the same app. Seeing "nothing left to read" when you know you have mail can be very disruptive.

Since your other account works, the app itself is functioning correctly. This behavior is usually not a glitch in the app, but rather a security policy enforced by your company's IT department or a sync barrier between your device and the server.

To address the core issue and help you resolve this issue, please try the following specific solutions:

Option 1: Reset Your Account in the App

This forces the Outlook app to clear its local cache for that specific account and re-pull all emails directly from the server without affecting your actual mail.

    1. Open the Outlook app on your iPhone.
    2. Tap your profile picture in the top left corner and tap the settings (gear icon) at the bottom left.
    3. Under Mail Accounts, tap your company email account.
    4. Scroll down and tap Reset Account. The app will restart and attempt to resynchronize your emails. User's image

Option 2: Check for Intune / MDM Management Requirements

Because this is a company account, your organization very likely uses Microsoft Intune or another Mobile Device Management (MDM) system to protect corporate data.

    • Many companies require employees to enroll their devices in a company portal app or agree to security policies before corporate emails are allowed to download.
    • Check if your company requires the Microsoft Company Portal app. If it does, you must download it from the App Store and sign in there first to authorize your iPhone.

Please refer to this document: Configure email settings in Microsoft Intune - Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn

Option 3: Check for Conditional Access and Quarantined Devices

Microsoft 365 administrators often set up "Conditional Access" policies. If your iPhone does not meet your company's specific security criteria (e.g., specific iOS version, passcode requirements), the server will let you log in but block all data from downloading.

    • Please log in to your company email via a web browser (Outlook Web App). Check your inbox for an automated email with the subject "Your device has been quarantined" or "Action Required to Sync Email." This email will tell you exactly what security step your iPhone is failing.

Please refer to this document: Troubleshoot Intune Conditional Access - Intune | Microsoft Learn

If the account reset does not bring your emails back, it is highly likely a security policy on your company's side blocking the sync.  I hope this provides a clear path forward for your outlook. Please let me know if you need any further general information.

Follow these steps in order on the iPhone Outlook app and related services:

    1. Reset the problematic account in Outlook for iOS
      1. Open the Outlook app.
      2. Go to Settings (gear icon).
      3. Tap the company account that is not showing emails.
      4. Tap Reset Account.
      5. Wait for the resync to complete and check if messages appear.
    2. Remove and re-add the account If reset does not help:
      1. In Settings, tap the same account.
      2. Tap Delete Account > Delete From This Device.
      3. Close Outlook completely, then reopen it.
      4. Add the company account again using the correct corporate option (typically Microsoft 365 / Exchange, not IMAP or POP).
      5. Complete sign-in and allow all requested permissions.
    3. Confirm the account type and server-side health
      1. Ensure the account is added as Exchange / Microsoft 365 (not IMAP/POP). IMAP/POP can cause limited sync behavior.
      2. On a desktop or web browser, sign in to Outlook (company mailbox) and verify that:
        • Emails are visible there.
        • No rules are moving all mail out of Inbox (for example, to RSS or another folder), which can make the Inbox appear empty in clients.
    4. Check for Outlook.com / Microsoft 365 service or app issues
      1. If this is an Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 account that previously synced and suddenly stopped, review the guidance under Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 work or school account not syncing anymore and, if applicable, remove and re-create the mobile sync partnership as described there.
      2. If email works correctly on a computer and there is no service outage, the issue is likely with the mobile app profile, which should be resolved by the reset/remove/re-add steps above.
    5. If still not working
      1. Set up the same mailbox in Outlook on a PC using the Exchange protocol.
      2. Send a test email to the account and create a test calendar event.
      3. Close Outlook on the PC, restart the PC, then reopen Outlook and confirm the test items are present.
      4. Reopen Outlook on iPhone and check if the Inbox now populates.

If, after all of the above, the Inbox in Outlook for iOS still shows “nothing left to read” while mail is visible in Outlook on the web/desktop, escalate to the company’s IT/Exchange or Microsoft 365 admin to check for mailbox-specific issues on the server side.
