To complete the lab, a separate Microsoft Entra tenant where you have admin rights is needed. Because the existing organizational account is restricted, use a different tenant where you are an administrator instead of trying to change permissions in the current one.

    Use one of these approaches:

    1. Create a new Microsoft Entra tenant
      1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center: https://entra.microsoft.com using any account that has an Azure subscription.
      2. In the left pane, select Entra ID > Overview.
      3. Select Manage tenants.
      4. Select Create.
      5. Enter an Organization name and an Initial domain name, then select Create.
      6. After creation, use the here link to switch to and manage the new directory.
In this new tenant, you are the admin and can perform all lab steps (create users, groups, assign licenses, etc.).
    2. Create users/admins inside the new tenant Once in the new tenant:
      1. Go to Entra ID > Users.
      2. Select + New user > Create new user.
      3. Provide User principal name and Display name.
      4. Configure Groups and roles, Settings, and Job info as needed.
      5. Select Create.
If the lab requires an admin role (for example, User Administrator or Hybrid Identity Administrator), edit the user’s Directory role accordingly when creating the account.
    3. Sign in with the new tenant account for the lab When the lab asks to use the Microsoft Entra admin center:
      • Sign in with the account that is Global Administrator (or the required admin role) in the new tenant.
      • Ensure the correct tenant is selected under Settings > Directories + subscriptions if multiple tenants exist.

If no Azure subscription is available at all, first create an Azure account (for example, a free trial) and then create the Entra tenant as above.
