Additional Microsoft Entra services and features related to identity, access, and network security
To complete the lab, a separate Microsoft Entra tenant where you have admin rights is needed. Because the existing organizational account is restricted, use a different tenant where you are an administrator instead of trying to change permissions in the current one.
Use one of these approaches:
- Create a new Microsoft Entra tenant
- Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center: https://entra.microsoft.com using any account that has an Azure subscription.
- In the left pane, select Entra ID > Overview.
- Select Manage tenants.
- Select Create.
- Enter an Organization name and an Initial domain name, then select Create.
- After creation, use the here link to switch to and manage the new directory.
- Create users/admins inside the new tenant
Once in the new tenant:
- Go to Entra ID > Users.
- Select + New user > Create new user.
- Provide User principal name and Display name.
- Configure Groups and roles, Settings, and Job info as needed.
- Select Create.
- Sign in with the new tenant account for the lab
When the lab asks to use the Microsoft Entra admin center:
- Sign in with the account that is Global Administrator (or the required admin role) in the new tenant.
- Ensure the correct tenant is selected under Settings > Directories + subscriptions if multiple tenants exist.
If no Azure subscription is available at all, first create an Azure account (for example, a free trial) and then create the Entra tenant as above.
