I have an audio icon (speaker with X over it) floating on my desktop. This is not only disturbing, it is interfering with my pointer. How do I get rid of it? Please advise.

Solved the problem. It is not a Windows problem. It is a monitor problem. I have a Samsung monitor and when I entered settings on the monitor and made a volume adjustment the icon disappeared.

Windows does not have an on-screen audio mute icon, that is always created by a utility installed by the PC manufacturer.

Please provide a screenshot of that floating icon you see on your screen.

Also, what is the make (Dell, Asus, Lenovo... etc.) of your PC.

I will then provide you with a method to remove the audio icon from your screen.
