How can I get a file that is lost or corrupted back on one note?

Because the notebook is stored in OneDrive, recovery depends on whether the pages or sections still exist there or in OneNote’s recycle/backup locations.

Try these steps in order:

1. Check the notebook in OneDrive directly
   • Sign in to OneDrive from the OneDrive home page.
   • Browse to the folder where the notebook is stored (for example, Documents or Notebooks).
   • Open the notebook in OneNote for the web and see whether the “Desk Reference Manual” pages load there.
2. Check Deleted Notes / Notebook Recycle Bin in OneNote
   If the content was deleted from the notebook:
   • Open the notebook where the missing pages should be.
   • In OneNote for Windows or OneNote for the web, select View > Deleted Notes (or History > Notebook Recycle Bin > Notebook Recycle Bin, depending on the app).
   • Look for the missing pages or sections.
   • Right‑click the page(s) and choose Move or Copy (or Restore To) to move them back to the desired section.
   • Repeat for any other pages that need to be restored.
   Notes deleted in a OneDrive‑stored notebook are kept in the Notebook Recycle Bin for a limited time (typically up to 60 days) unless the recycle bin was emptied.
