If your mouse has stopped working completely, look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of those keys has a touchpad symbol (probable F10 on an Acer laptop), try pressing that key or Fn + that key to test if the touchpad is then working.

If not, open the Settings App.
Go to Windows Update - Update History.
Scroll down to the bottom of that window and select 'Uninstall Updates'.
Try uninstalling the latest installed Windows update from there to test if the touchpad is then working.
