How do i fix a touchpad issue on my Acer Extensa 215-55 windows 11 pro. all the proper drivers are in place yet my touch only responds to one finger gestures but not the others, even the touchpad settings are missing. when i go to the BIOS and switch to 12C, all the touchpad setting return but the touchpad stops working COMPLETELY. ive tried everything but it still does not work. even a physical mouse does not work. I even had someone sent by Acer to come fix the issue yet it still persists

If your mouse has stopped working completely, look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of those keys has a touchpad symbol (probable F10 on an Acer laptop), try pressing that key or Fn + that key to test if the touchpad is then working.

If not, open the Settings App.

Go to Windows Update - Update History.

Scroll down to the bottom of that window and select 'Uninstall Updates'.

Try uninstalling the latest installed Windows update from there to test if the touchpad is then working.

For touchpad and mouse issues on Windows 11, the supported steps focus on checking hardware, then updating or reinstalling drivers in Windows.

    1. Check basic hardware and external devices
      • If using a USB mouse or external touchpad, unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in.
      • Try a different USB port.
      • If using a USB hub, connect the mouse directly to the laptop instead.
      • Make sure cables are not damaged and any wireless devices have power or fresh batteries.
    2. Update touchpad drivers (recommended)
      • Use Windows Update to get the latest drivers for the touchpad. Windows Update is the recommended method for updating hardware drivers.
      • If needed, use Device Manager to update:
        • Open Device Manager.
        • Look under Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices for the touchpad.
        • Right‑click the touchpad entry and choose the option to update the driver. Follow the prompts.
    3. Reinstall the touchpad driver
      • If updating does not help or no newer driver is available, reinstalling via Device Manager can force Windows to pull the latest driver from Windows Update:
        • In Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices, right‑click the touchpad device and uninstall it (do not remove the driver software unless instructed by Acer support).
        • Restart Windows so it can reinstall the device and driver automatically from Windows Update.
    4. If the touchpad still does not work
      • If updating and reinstalling the touchpad driver do not resolve the issue, the guidance is to contact the device manufacturer for further help, which has already been done in this case. At that point, Acer support is responsible for any required firmware, BIOS, or hardware repair.

For mouse issues in general (including when a physical mouse also does not work), also verify:

    • USB devices are properly connected and powered.
    • Wireless receivers are reset (unplug and re‑plug after ~10 seconds, or use any reset button on the device/receiver).
    • For Bluetooth mice, follow Bluetooth troubleshooting steps as needed.

If none of these steps restore multi‑finger gestures or pointer input, continued work with Acer support is required, as the remaining causes are likely firmware/BIOS or hardware‑specific and outside what Windows configuration alone can fix.
