A cloud-based task management app from Microsoft that helps users organize and manage daily tasks across devices.
Hi Gary Geurts
I understand how frustrating it is when a familiar Tasks view and long‑used task data suddenly seem to disappear. To follow up for @Katerina-N, please try the following:
1, Check whether your old tasks still exist
Please sign in to Microsoft To Do using the same Microsoft account you used previously, and look for:
- Lists such as Tasks, Planned, All, or Completed
- Old tasks without due dates (these often appear under All)
If you see your tasks there, your data is safe and still intact.
2, If task lists are missing, check Outlook “Deleted Items”
You mentioned both previous and current versions of Outlook. To clarify, do you mean Classic Outlook and New Outlook? For more details: What version of Outlook do I have?. If that is the case, please try the following:
- Switch back to Classic Outlook (you can either download the standalone Classic Outlook version or revert to classic Outlook if you’re currently using New Outlook).
- Then follow these steps:
- Switch to Folder List view
- Expand Deleted Items
- Look for folders that match your old task list names
- If found, move the folder back to Tasks
This should restore the list back into Microsoft To Do.
Note: This only works if the list was deleted and is still within the recoverable window.
Please feel free to let me know how it goes. I truly appreciate your time and understanding.
