The best option would be to go to the support page for your laptop on the manufactures website, then from there, download and reinstall (not update) the version of Touchpad drivers and Chipset drivers they provide for your laptop model.
If you have any difficulty locating that support page, click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

Also, right click your Start Button and open Device Manager.
Expand the 'Mouse and other pointing devices' section.
Right click your touchpad in there and select Properties.
If there is a Power Management tab on the resulting Properties dialog, disable the option to allow Windows to turn off that device to save power.
