I cannot find Data Types in the Data tab.

I do not see an Options selection under Files.

    Hi,

What exact Excel version and license shows under Excel > About Excel?

Do this, fully sign out of Excel, close all Office apps, open Keychain Access and delete entries related to “Office” and “ADAL”, restart your Mac, then open Excel and sign in again with your subscription account, go to Excel > Preferences > Privacy and enable connected experiences, then reopen Excel and check the Data tab again.

This refresh fixes cases where the feature is stuck off because your account session is not properly linked to feature services on Mac builds.

Under Excel > Preferences, then General > Ribbons > Data Types, I am not able to set that option ON

On Excel for Mac, the Data Types gallery is only available when all of the following are true:

    1. Excel is a Microsoft 365 subscription version that supports linked data types.
    2. The user is signed in with the account associated with the Microsoft 365 subscription.
    3. The app is updated to a version that includes linked data types.

If the Data Types group is missing on the Data tab:

    1. Sign in with the subscription account:
      • Go to File > Account and confirm sign‑in with the Microsoft 365 subscription account.
    2. Check for updates:
      • In File > Account, make sure Excel has the latest updates installed.
    3. Verify feature availability:
      • Some Excel versions only support viewing existing linked data types in a workbook and do not allow creating or refreshing them. In that case, the full Data Types gallery may not appear.
    4. Try Excel for the web:
      • If the desktop Mac client does not show Data Types, open the workbook in Excel for the web (signed in with the same subscription account) and check the Data tab there.

Regarding “Options” under File: on recent Excel versions, Data import and analysis options are in File > Options > Data. If Options is not visible, the Excel build or platform may not support that dialog in the same way as Windows; on Mac, many options are under Excel > Preferences instead of File > Options.
